Preserve to learn!

The preservation of the Alte Synagoge Heppenheim as a cultural monument and the restoration of the prayer room is our joint mission.

After restoration, however, the building should not only be a ‘monument’, but also a lively place of encounter, remembrance and education. Lectures, exhibitions, readings, conferences and other cultural events should be possible here. The association is convinced that the revitalisation of Heppenheim's unique cultural monument will not only do justice to its historical heritage, but will also make an important contribution to our society and the future of our town.

After its restoration, it is meant to be more than just a “monument.” Our vision is to transform it into a vibrant place for connection and remembrance. A space where lectures, exhibitions, readings, conferences, and other cultural events can come to life. Researching, documenting, preserving, and sharing history are at the heart of our efforts
